22% of British workers received Covid-19 related phishing emails

A report by Webroot has found that more than one in five UK employees (22%) have received a COVID-19 related phishing email. The Webroot survey gathered data from 7,000 office workers worldwide and found that employees are receiving 34% more emails than they were last year. The survey also showed that business needs to remain alert in regards to security risks as governments ask employees to work from home in the wake of Covid-19.

The research also discovered that only 24% of UK employees reported that their companies increased cybersecurity training since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Although, 75% of respondents from the UK believe that they have competent knowledge in protecting personal data from cyberattacks, which is the highest level across all the countries involved in the survey. Promisingly, of the UK participants, eight out of ten also say that they take precautions to determine if an email message can be malicious.
